The PS5’s Pulse headset is a headset designed to use 3D audio with PS4 and PS5 games that support it, allowing for sounds to be heard as if all around the player, similar to a surround sound system. It also features two microphones that can cancel out background noises, and still has a 3.5mm jack to use as a standard headset. The SingStar Microphone was the iconic peripheral of the SingStar games, of which there were over 70 different releases (including the same game with different setlists per region). Coming as a pair of one red and one blue microphone, they came bundled with an adapter that both mics plugged into. This was so that they only take up one of the PS2’s USB ports, leaving the remaining port open for the EyeToy camera.

This scene depicts protagonist Dante keeping a Marionette enemy in the air by constantly shooting at him, showcasing the franchise’s famous juggling mechanic. After crossing the first Shock Platforms in the heavy rain section, you’ll see on the right a Bot grinding back and forth on a cable. Also at the second Checkpoint, head left along the cliff to find a Bot kneeling in front of a lad with a staff. The Bot with the staff is the Maiden in Black, a demon who uses souls collected by the player character to help them level up in the Nexus. Demon’s Souls got a PS5 remake in 2020 for the launch of the console.
Every area had the same problem of mandatory physical interaction to get through the level, none of which were doable for me. Every single level reached a point where I couldn’t proceed, leaving me no choice but to ask for help. There are no options in the menu to adjust any controls whatsoever – all motion and physical controls are mandatory.
While Astro’s Playroom’s new update was subtle, Team Asobi and PlayStation have been promoting Astro Bot’s new free DLC content. The first two new levels launched on February 13 and 20, and a new level is to be added weekly until March 13. After completing all DLC levels, a new game mode called Time Attack will be available as well. It is unclear whether Astro’s Playroom will get more updates in the future, but it is likely that Astro Bot will, considering its incredible success.

The final starfish is at the end of the beach on the left side, a little underwater. After activating that tightrope, head back to the starting area and look near the two obelisks to find some cables in the ground hidden amongst the grass. Pulling these will give you a small projectile you can throw, so take it and cross the tightrope you activated. To start the path to collecting and saving the Special Bot in the Memory Meadow, start at the Gusty Gateway and progress until you reach a tightrope after walking past the island with the strong winds. In fact, the only use of the DualSense that seemed superfluous to me was the microphone.

Then throw the capsule at the blue cloud as shown in the second picture below. Astro’s Playroom was the final game released by Japan Studio before their dissolution in April 2021. Team Asobi was formally spun-off into an independent studio within Sony’s PlayStation Studios in June 2021. A full-length sequel, Astro Bot, was announced on May 30, 2024, and was released for the PlayStation 5 on September 6, 2024. Finally, as much as I adore Astro’s cute nature and attention to detail with its celebration of PlayStation nostalgia, I would have loved a more considered narrative on top of all that. There was once a time when pack-in bundled games were regarded as the very best games available for that new console.
Players can use weapons, such as plunger arrows and a pellet gun which shoots coloured balls, to destroy objects and defeat enemies. The player can also whack robots, including robot-like animals, with hands or weapons. The player’s character can take damage, such as by falling off platforms, being flattened or being electrocuted. Basically, it means that the triggers can offer resistance if you’re trying to perform some task that requires a lot of effort. With the feature turned off, the triggers will do a full pull as normal. But once activated, the triggers might stop halfway into a pull, requiring extra effort to “push past” the resistance to get a full trigger pull. Asobi is a pet-like robot that can be summoned by rubbing the Touch Pad.
Levels constantly throw me new toys to play with that totally change the way the level plays. Later levels include a spaceship (with rockets powered by the adaptive triggers) and a rolling ball (controlled by swiping the touchpad on the DualSense), intermingled with platforming sequences. The smooth, 60-frames-per-second gameplay makes controlling Astro a real treat.

Even as-is I’d wager Sony could easily charge $20 and most people would happily pay that without feeling ripped off at all. Usually rumble tends to fade away and eventually becomes something I stop noticing. In some cases I’ll turn it off entirely so it doesn’t distract me. But in the case of the DualSense, for the first time ever really, I feel like it actually enhances and changes the game for the better. Puzzle Piece 4/4 – When going down the section where you are blown by two clouds, make sure to stick to the right after the second cloud to get bounced to this puzzle piece.
