You can also get the ‘All-Seeing’ perk within the Traversal tab to mark them on your in-game map – use this to farm tech parts, too. Spider-Man 2 feels like it’s right in the centre of Sony’s blockbuster sequel design philosophy. Where Horizon Forbidden West did the same thing but bigger, The Last of Us Part 2 elevated itself technologically, narratively, and most importantly, ambitiously. Spider-Man 2 falls between these approaches – it has some of Horizon’s safety, but with a slice of the elevation The Last of Us brought.
While many well-known characters feature throughout the game, the final moments hint at another big player joining the franchise, either in Spider-Man 3 or another game. The fictional Southeast Asian island Madripoor is referenced in a data log during the Bad Guys On The Block main story mission. Whilst some will recall the location from the “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” Disney+ series, it’s more commonly known amongst comic-book fans as the city where Wolverine finds himself most of the time. And so Marvel’s Spider-Man is the best overall Spider-Man game, featuring a lively world brimming with side activities, smart reworks of many of Peter’s supporting cast, and plenty of action from start to finish. We’ll see if Insomniac will finally top its best effort with the upcoming Wolverine game and the inevitable Spider-Man 3, but for now, this is the best it gets if you want to play as everyone’s favorite Web-Slinger. And as Marvel’s flagship character, it just feels right that his best game is also the greatest Marvel game ever made.
The adorable but giant Inhuman pup statue returns from the previous games, and can be found just north of Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan. With Spider-Man 2 taking place a year after the events of Miles Morales, you might expect that the city has fully recovered, but you’d be wrong! Whilst the Wakandan Embassy has been a location in the previous two Spider-Man games from Insomniac, a new unique interaction is available in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. With each enemy webbed up, and the Ricochet Web bouncing off of them to keep the attacks coming, players will have vulnerable foes that won’t be able to engage in a fight while players give them a punch from their webbed state. In some instances, these webbed enemies might even end up webbed to a wall to negate their combat encounters altogether.
Upgrades to this gadget increases its chargers and blast radius while also disarming enemies which can be useful when fighting larger groups of enemies. Players Will Be Able To Change The Symbiote Tendrils’ Color
The team has landed a trilogy of games that all stand strong on their own merits but unite into a sweeping saga made better by experiencing its entirety. While more Spider-Man games will inevitably expand this mythology in new directions, there’s no need to wait. With Spider- Man 2, the developer has found what makes superhero stories worth telling (and retelling) and given its likable heroes the journey they deserve. But bells and whistles aside, what makes the game so special — even among other Spider-media — is its ability to let players relish the minutiae. Like Stan said, the beauty of Spider-Man is being him, and while Peter’s sections mostly push the narrative forward in operatic ways, the Miles Morales sections make up the soul of the game in meaningful ways. Much of his storyline is centered around the “friendly neighborhood” part of Spider-Man and its here where the immersion and length provided by the video game medium set this title apart from the print and movies.
Meanwhile, the 12-core Intel Core i K or AMD Ryzen X (or better) will be sufficient for the gaming CPU, with the RAM requirement still set at 16GB. With these specs, set your graphics preset to high, but set your ray tracing settings to very high. The Spider-Man 2 very high ray tracing specs require an even more powerful PC. The GPU requirements inch ever forward, up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX as a minimum, which will get you 1440p at 60fps.
Tie-in Comics
Fight enemies in Crimes until the abilities recharge and keep defeating enemies with these abilities in Crimes. For it to count you have to land the final hit that kills the enemy using these 4 abilities, for a total of 100 kills. It’s best to weaken the enemies beforehand, or focus on enemies that die in one hit, or spam all abilities in quick succession to wipe out bigger groups. They are unlocked automatically from story progress (unmissable) and by buying them from Peter’s skill tree. It’s also advisable to buy the upgrades from Peter’s skill tree that improve these abilities.
Peter acts as Miles’ mentor and gets to exist firmly in a space where the movies (interested only in the drama) and the comics (interested only in sadism) have always refused to let him be. He’s got a healthy, functional relationship with Mary Jane Watson, a burgeoning reporter for the Daily Bugle, and although he’s struggling to maintain a job, he’s relatively well adjusted… for now. Kraven is one of the main bad guys in Spider-Man 2, other than Venom, of course.
Upgraded Suit
For Platinum you need 100% district completion which requires finding all 160 collectibles. The collectibles get marked when unfogging the map (except Spider-Bots) so they are easy to find. The map gets unfogged when reaching District Completion Level 2 (from finding Collectibles) or going everywhere manually to unfog a radius around you. All of the quest-related trophies come from the story and district completion. The only thing that doesn’t come automatically from collectibles are combat trophies and a few miscellaneous open world trophies.
They are two of the greatest Spider-Man villains, but they’ll need a good supporting cast to back them up. Or else they’ll have to rely on characters like Big Wheel and Big Man. Not only did they come back, but they’re actively worse this time around. Meaning both elite-level world class hunters and alien monsters that two superpowered Spider-Men struggle against are done in by a reporter with a stun gun.
When webbed, enemies are more vulnerable to attacks, or they can be stuck to walls and other surfaces to take them out of the action. The Web-Shooters are always accessible, and always reliable, providing players with a gadget that can constantly stick more bad guys to a knockout. Spider-man 2 actively drip feeds you new side activities as you progress the story, so that was the driving factor in making sure I regularly paid attention to the main quests as well. Spider-Man 2 (PS5) features new and returning gadgets that can be upgraded to be used in combat and during missions.
When it comes to movie tie-in games, few have been as well-received as Spider-Man 2. Released alongside kuwin of the same name, it eschewed traditional self-contained levels for an open world approach – something deeply ambitious back in 2004 – and allowed you to freely swing around New York City to your heart’s content. Spider-Man’s classic and most important weapon in his tool kit is his web shooter, and their feature in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is an excellent and necessary addition that allows players to rapidly fire multiple webs at their enemies to web them up. If players aren’t using the Sonic Burst on Symbiotes, then they can use it to a decent enough effect on non-Symbiote enemies which will cause them to get knocked back. This knockback effect is great and can throw enemies into walls and deal some nasty damage.
Most games set 1080p as the baseline for minimum requirements these days. Though hotfixes are flying thick and fast as I finish out this review, for me the patches have so far failed to tackle frequent crashes to desktop. I find it difficult to diagnose my experience—while others have seen wide-ranging performance issues, for me the game runs smoothly, until it suddenly doesn’t. Without warning, in seemingly undemanding scenes and without any preceding slowdown, the game simply gives up, citing only nonsensical display driver issues. So far it’s happened about once every 30 minutes, seeming to be more frequent during story missions. This physical manifestation is also representative of mental health issues that have developed for each Spider-Man.
